YORK COUNTY, SC (WBTV) -
A “Boil Water Advisory” has been issued for York County residents in the Tega Cay area after a major break in a water line, according to officials.
The 10-inch line, which connects the York County water supply and Tega Cay, was reported around 1 p.m. Tuesday near the corner of Tega Cay Drive and Heron Harbor Drive.
Officials said the York County booster pumps were shut down so repair crews could excavate the pipe, determine a cause for the break, and begin repairs.
A robo-call “Boil Water Advisory” was issued to about 1,700 customers in the area, and will be in effect until Thursday, pending test results.
Tuesday night, officials said the line had been repaired, but that as a precautionary measure, residents should continue to boil water being used for cooking or for drinking.
