HARTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) – The bodies of four young children have been found after a fire in a Hartsville home, an official with the Hartsville Fire Department confirmed.

Capt. Andy Locklair with the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office said fire ravaged a mobile home on Depot Street in Hartsville Wednesday afternoon.

The identities of the children have not been released pending the outcome of the investigation, stated Darlington County Coroner J Todd Hardee. The autopsies are scheduled for Thursday in Newberry.

The Hartsville Fire Department got the call at about 1:53 p.m. Wednesday, and were on the scene by 1:57 p.m, according to officials with the department. The home was 75 percent involved when crews arrived, and the fire was under control in about 10 minutes.

Seven firemen, a fire officer, two engines, and one rescue truck responded. Hartsville’s Mayor Mel Pennington, a volunteer fireman, was also on the scene to assist.
