CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

An upper level disturbance bringing lots of moisture will trigger showers and thunderstorms this afternoon throughout the Carolinas. Some storms could bring dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning, strong winds and heavy downpours.

Flash flooding will be a concern, especially late in the day as thunderstorm chances increase due to warm temperatures. The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Ashe and Watauga counties until 8:00 Sunday morning.

Those attending the NASCAR All-Star race, or have any outdoor plans tonight should keep in mind that storms may still be around and be prepared to take shelter.

You can track these storms using our Interactive Radar, which can be viewed here.
