Update: 2 remain in hospital after fatal wreck in Davidson

DAVIDSON, NC (WBTV) -

Troopers say the wife and son of a man who was killed in a wreck in Davidson are still in the hospital Sunday morning.

A Chevy Impala and SUV hit each other resulting in a piece of engine from one of the vehicles to brake and crash through a window of a nearby home.

The accident happened on Mooresville road on Friday night according to Troopers.

North Carolina Highway Patrol says the driver of the Chevy crossed the center line and crashed into the SUV head-on.

A 2-year-old toddler was thrown from the SUV during impact but remained in the car seat and will be okay.

The driver of the Chevy, plus a passenger, were injured.

Officials told WBTV they believe charges will be filed and at this point and it looks like speed may have been a factor in the crash.
