Zimmerman out of jail on bond in assault case

(RNN/CNN) – George Zimmerman has been released from jail just hours after being arraigned for a domestic assault incident involving his girlfriend.

Judge Frederic Schott had set Zimmerman’s bond at $9,000 Tuesday afternoon.

According to CNN, when he was released from the John E. Polk Correctional Facility, he didn’t speak with the media.

Zimmerman is charged with felony aggravated assault, domestic violence battery and criminal mischief.

A prosecutor said this is not the first domestic incident between the victim and Zimmerman. She said, “there was an incident involving a choking about one and a half weeks ago that she did not mention.” The victim said he also had “threatened to commit suicide.”

The Seminole County judge put restrictions to his bond in place.

Zimmerman was ordered not to have any contact with his girlfriend, or to return to her house. He also may not have any weapons or ammunition while out on bond, must wear a monitoring device, and may not travel outside of Florida, the judge said.

His next court proceeding will be held on Jan. 7, 2014.

Zimmerman was arrested Monday afternoon at the home of his girlfriend, Samantha Scheibe, after she called 911.

“I’m doing this again? You just broke my glass table. You just broke my sunglasses and you put your gun in my freaking face and told me to get the [expletive] out, this is not your house! No, get out of here,” Scheibe said during the 911 call.

Scheibe yelled at him just before she told 911 he pushed her out of her house and barricaded himself inside.

A few minutes later Zimmerman made his own 911 call.

“Um, my girlfriend has, for lack of a better word, gone crazy on me,” Zimmerman said.

With police banging on the door, Zimmerman says his girlfriend is pregnant and blames everything on her.

“She just started smashing stuff, taking stuff that belonged to me, throwing it outside, throwing it out of her room, throwing it all over the house,” Zimmerman said. “She broke a glass table because she threw something on it. She got mad that, I guess, I told her that I would be willing to leave. I guess she thought I was going to argue with her, but she’s pregnant. I’m not going to put her through that kind of stress.”

It’s Zimmerman’s latest run-in with the law since his July acquittal in the Trayvon Martin murder case.

He’s been pulled over twice for speeding.

And, in September, he was detained by police after his soon-to-be-ex-wife claimed he smashed her iPad in an argument.

No charges were filed then, but, this time, with his new girlfriend, it’s different.

“She alleged that he had broken a table and, at one point, pointed a long barrel shotgun at her,” said Dennis Lemma, Seminole County, FL Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies pushed their way inside to find George Zimmerman unarmed and cooperative.

But he’s now back in the Seminole County Jail, charged with aggravated assault.

Deputies searched the home until late Monday night.

George Zimmerman was acquitted in July for the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.
